Assuring the Edge – Considerations for Telcos

This research took a broad approach to the definitions of both “the edge” and “assurance” to enable the investigation of the new assurance that a telco will require as it deploys networks, infrastructure, devices and services to support customers taking a mix of network products, edge compute and IoT services from the telco.

It was noted that there are multiple factors that will effect the assurance products that telcos will need to deploy.

The diagram summarizes the first step of simplifying this complexity into “internal-related requirements” on the left – basically, what needs to be measured and for whom?  And on the right, factors which relate to the particular products and the business models which telcos choose to adopt in IoT/Edge.
